ABSTRACT

The research focuses on the impact of non-oil exports on Nigerian economy. It employs the documentary method in retrieving secondary data for the study. The data is retrieved from the CBN statistical bulletin for the year 2016. The method of data analysis is the ordinary least square (OLS) method of multiple regressions using the Microfit software. At the end of the analysis, it is discovered that non-oil exports has a significant impact on the economic growth of Nigeria. I recommend that there should be a quick diversion from monoculture economy to a multicultural one. This is so. Since the oil which Nigeria depends on is prone to shocks beyond the control of the country. As such, crude oil revenue should be put into a secondary role so as to make Nigeria economy self-sustaining, and also that the government should endeavour to support various export promotion programmes and institutions. This could be achieved by encouraging financial institutions, both formal and informal, to make loans available at reduced rates of interest for investors as to increase the level of investment in this country.
