Waste generated in health care facilities which include general waste, sharps, non – sharps, blood, body parts, chemicals, phamaceuticals, medical devices and radioactive material. When all these are poorly managed, exposes health care personel, waste handler and tfhe community to infectious agents, toxicmaterials and increase risk of injury. Improper disposal can be due to lack of equipment for proper waste disposal, lack of knowledge on the side of the health personnel also the effect of the improper waste disposal to patient, health worker, hospital environment and the public and the ways to improve proper waste disposal methods in the wards.

1.3     OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

v To asses the knowledge of health worker on waste diksposal.

v To asses the availability of waste disposal methods in the hospital wards.

v To identify the effect of improper waste methods in the hospital wards

v To identify the effect of improper waste disposal method on patients, patient’s relative, health care workers and hospital environment.

v To determine ways of improving proper waste disposal methods.
