Computer and data have become an integral part of every enterprise and business today. Accurate data which is transformed to information is required for any industry to perform at optimal level as such is used in decisive management and decision making processes. This therefore makes such organisations critically dependent on the use of a database system to help in accessing such data and information. However, many hospitals are found to be somewhat “stuck” on the present manual paper based system of storing such data and information in spite of how inefficient this system has proven to be. This research work, Design and Implementation of a Hospital Medical Information System, focuses on computerizing the manual paper based by developing a user friendly application which is responsible for searching, sorting, retrieving, documenting and storing all data about patients (inpatients and outpatients) including diagnostic information, ward information, doctor information, etc. using Federal Medical Centre, Jabi-Airport Road, Abuja as a case study. This system will be built and designed by myself using Java Server Faces as the front end, My SQL server as the back end and Glassfish Server as the application server used for testing and running. NetBeans IDE 8.2 would be used for building Logical interfaces and MySQL workbench is used for the ER Diagram. The system analysis and design methodology was followed using Enterprise Architecture and a sample Hospital Medical Information System (HMIS) was tested thereafter.
