ABSTRACT

This work examined entrepreneurship as a catalyst for improving the standard of living in Nigeria, the objectives of this, is to find out how entrepreneurship programmes have contributed to the development of Nigeria economy specifically in Kabba bunu Local Government Area. Information on this study was obtained from both primary and secondary sources. A sample size of 60 (sixty) respondents was selected using simple-random sampling technique. The hypotheses formulated were tested using chi-square and the findings among others revealed that; entrepreneurship has really helped to improve the standard of living of the people, secondly, entrepreneurship programmes have lifted the in the area of job creation. It is recommended that government should promote available small and medium scale enterprise through public initiatives and adequate findings especially people should know that the economic investment in education and training will be wasted if they do not move into entrepreneurship.  The economic growth and development of any nation depends strongly on the functions of the industrial activities that operate in such countries. To this end, the study “Entrepreneurship as a catalyst for improving the standard of living in Kogi State” should be given significance consideration because, the industrial sector is the pivot of any economic development.
