ABSTRACT





This

research work investigates the effect of ethical and moral values on office

professionals` performance in selected organisations in Kaduna metropolis. This

study covered five deposit taking banks in Kaduna metropolis namely; Union

bank, Diamond banks, Keystone banks and Access bank. Some of the ethical and

moral values issues and problems in the banking industry were highlighted to

include dearth of qualified professional banks, lack of proper ethics training,

fraud, level of awareness of the code of ethics amongst Nigerian banks and other

mal practices. Three research questions were developed to guide the study. Data

was collected using a sample size of one hundred and seventy six respondents

drawn from five banks. Questionnaires were administered and data analysed using

percentage and mean score method. The results of findings portray that there is

a general awareness of the code of ethics in the banking industry and the

industry is fully sanitized to curb unethical and inadequate moral value

practices. Also, many professional bankers are at helm of affair of most banks

and are capable of providing ethical leadership for the banking profession.
