The study focuses on the use of costume and make-up as


variable tools for promoting culture and tourism, a case study of Nigerian home videos. It is believed that people have only one function and importance of the home videos as a means of entertainment and relaxation. The study looked at another importance of home videos in promoting our culture and tourism. It aimed at enlightening the public on the role the home videos in transmitting our cultural values as well as serving as means through which tourism can be promoted. Some literature were reviewed to further explain the study. Different types of tourism have been researched upon.The movie induced tourism which is applicable to the study explained that there are some categories of tourists that visit beautiful scenes that are used in Movies. The research problem investigated the roles of  the indispensable tools, costume and make up in portraying our cultural values and the probability of promoting our cultural heritage. Nigerian home videos were the focus of the study as against other forms of home videos.Some home videos were randomly selected from the early 20th century till date. The data were analyzed using the descriptive method of data analysis. The result of the study showed that earlier Nigerian home videos reflected cultural values through the use of costume and make up while the recent ones use costume and make up to interpret the role of the character instead of portraying cultural values.
