ABSTRACT

This study looks into the concept of digitalization, its contents, applications and challenges for the broadcast media in Nigeria. Since we are today living in the information age when the individuals, organizations and nations depend solely on the degree or amount of information at their disposal and how adequately they are managing it, the need, however, arises to also examines and analyzed literatures on digitization and the extent to which it has impacted on the operations of broadcast media in Nigeria.  The study is sourced from both the primary and secondary sources. The primary source involves in-depth interviews with media experts and stakeholders while the secondary is sourced from libraries, archives, News papers, Magazines and other desk study. Moreover, the researchers also sieved through online materials on digitization.  The study concludes that for the new digital vogue to work here in Nigeria, users should be educated about the new technology and several segment operators should also see the opportunity of the preparation time frame as a privilege to be equipped adequately against the challenges of transition from the analog to digital .The study recommendations a seamless digitization of the broadcasting media in Nigeria as the deadline for June 2015 approaches.
