ABSTRACT This study focused on leadership styles and academic performance of schools in Oyam district. The objectives of the study were: to find out how lazes faire leadership, autocratic, democratic and charistimatic leader ship styles and how they affect performance of schools in Oyam. The data was collected using questionnaires and interview guides and later sorted, tallied and presented in tables. The frequencies and percentages were used as data analysis methods. The head teachers, school teachers and school girls were involved in the study to provide their views. The study revealed that all the above leadership skills did affect the performance of schools in Oyam district.
