ABSTRACT

This research was designed to compare the academic performance of students in boarding students and those who are day students. About one hundred students were used for this study. These were drawn by using simple and stratified random sampling by selecting students in two different secondary schools in Bwari area  council, FCT. Abuja.  Questionnaires were administered to fifty students in boarding school (Government Girls Secondary School Dutse) and fifty students in day school (Government Day Secondary School Dutse) . A simple percentage was employed to test the three research questions formulated as shown below :

a.            Is there any difference between the academic performance of both the boarding and day students?

b.            Is there any difference between the academic performance of the students whose parents are rich and those of poor parents?

c.            Does the environment have a positive or negative effect on the academic performance of the students?
