This research focuses on the an examination of the cause and implications of prostitution among university students in Nigeria: A study of IBB university Lapai Niger State. The aim and objective of the study is to provide an examination on the causes and implications of of prostitution among university students. Three theories were used to explain implication of prostitution and the theory also explain the reason for the involvement in prostitution (The theories include Strain Anomie theory and Differential Association Theory). Survey design method is adopted for the study in order to help to archive the desired result. In the process, questionnaires are designed and distributed to 120 respondents in the study area who are selected through the use of simple random sampling method. Again this background, the research designs and administers 120 questionnaires to the selected sampled population in which 114 are dully filled and retuned with case of 6 accordingly. The study uses both primary and secondary data respectively. As stated ealier, the primary data are collected in the field by the research through the use of appropriate instruments (i.e questionnaire and indepth interview), but Secondary information for this research was mainly through various publications collected from the internet, text books, journals, reports prepared by various universities. The major findings of this research reveals that the majority of the respondents are youth and female constitute the highest percentage that engage in prostitution, however, On the nature of prostitution in the study area the qualitative data revealed that the rate of child prostitution is high. By recommending to this study, a collective multi-disciplinary and multi-sector approach is necessary by both governmental and non-governmental bodies on public enlightenment. Awareness about prostitution should be created through health education and communication program such as advertisement, postcards, etc.
